Deerclops
Deerclops is a boss monster from the base game that has been radically tweaked as to deserve their own page.
One of its new Drops, the Cursed Antler, can only be equipped by touching the Melancholic Skull to acquire the Veteran's Curse.
It will now spawn earlier than usual. If world Settings are unchanged, during the night of day 28 instead of day 30 normally.
Mutations[edit | edit source]
Mutations is a feature that effects Deerclops that makes its fight much more unpredictable. It has three mutations and each year will have a random mutation chosen, including the first Winter.
Laser[edit | edit source]
Ice Laser Deerclops has the appearance of resemble a blueish tinted Feast clops. Occasionally it will fire a laser that can freeze you.
Combo[edit | edit source]
Combo Clops spawns with 4500 HP. It will sometimes do an uppercut attack instead of it's regular attack, this will Knock the player back, but won't add any freezing. At around half health, Deerclops will do a lunge after the uppercut animation.
Aura[edit | edit source]
Aura spawns with 3500 HP. Sometimes it will put its claws in the ground to channel an ice wall circle around himself and areas of freezing within, there is always a small safe space for the player to stand. The ice walls can be mined to escape, with some spawning already cracked, being mined faster than others. They also have a chance to spawn 5 Freeze areas on its regular attack.
Tips[edit | edit source]
- Deerclops' insanity aura is way more dangerous in Uncompromising Mode due to the changes to Shadow Creatures. A Dapper Vest or a Thulecite Suit can be worn to reduce the insanity aura by 70% or 40% respectively.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- During Winter's feast, there's a chance that any of the Deerclops forms will spawn with the Blue appearence of Ice Laser Deerclops.
- Deerclops used to be able to spawn in Caves. If the player(s) were in caves during Winter, and Deerclops was able to spawn, the warning for it would've been heard and soon after, it would crash down into the caves, causing boulders to fall when it entered.
