Lightning Hounds are a new Hound type that spawns in Spring. When killed, they drop 1 Monster Meat, 1 Hound's Tooth, and 1 Gold Nugget, with a 50% chance for a second Gold Nugget. They have the ability to summon multiple Supercharged Lightning strikes on where the player was standing. This attack can be mitigated by wearing clothing with Electrical Insulation, such as the Eyebrella and the Rock Hide Armor.

Fighting Strategy

The first attack of a Lightning Hound is always its lightning attack which can be avoided by using protective clothing or getting out of the electrified terrain before a thunder strikes in that place, a similar mechanic to Antlion's Sand Spikes. The lightning caused by Lightning Hounds won't burn structures, and will deal 25 damage, ignoring any armor that the player is wearing. The player will be shocked if it hits a Lightning Hound that is charging an attack, being stunned for some seconds and receiving 5 damage.

If the player gets in melee range, the hounds will execute a biting attack, just like any other hounds, but that shocks you if you get hit, dealing 5 extra damage, but not stunning you.

Trivia

• Lightning Hounds were added in the Stalking Stuffers update.
• Lightning Hound's special electric attack will not trigger if you unload the Hound before they finish charging it. You can achieve this by getting far enough or by jumping in a Worm Hole, however, the moment they get loaded again, the attack will instantly trigger, making abandoning these Hounds without killing them a bad decision.
• For some reason, you can only be stunned getting hit by a Lightning Hound's bite while invincible (God Mode, using Bone Armor or Thulecite Crown's shield activated).
