Magma Hound
–Wurt
Magma Hounds are a new hound type that spawn in Summer. They have the ability to breathe fire in an arc, this attack can target and follow the player, making difficult to avoid.
This makes Magma Hounds even more destructive than regular Red Hounds, if you are not prepared they can burn down large amounts of structures if you let them into your base.
Fighting Strategy[edit | edit source]
Recommended items[edit | edit source]
- Goose Mask or Plague Mask, to not lose health in Smog. A Luxury Fan can also be used to blow it away, but as a temporary measure.
- Watering Can, Water Balloons, Ice Staff, or other extinguishing items, to prevent damage to structures or important plants.
- Scalemail will make the fight much easier, as it grants fire immunity.
- Pan Flute or Sleep Darts can be used to temporarily disable the Hounds, to deal with other threats.
Fighting[edit | edit source]
The Magma Hound will open its mouth, signaling players to back out. Once the charging animation ends, it will start spitting fire in an arc. It is not advised to stay in one place for too long, or else you will be set on fire. Also avoid changing direction, as you will most likely get ignited, because the aim speed of the hound is slower than player speed. Once the fire breath ends, you can land some hits onto it or other hounds. Remember that the Magma Hound can still bite you, so be careful. Once it opens its mouth, back up and repeat.
Once the hound is killed, it leaves a fiery area underneath where it dies, similar to what Klaus can create. It is not advised to immediately claim the drops, as the player can die if not careful.
Tips[edit | edit source]
- Willow can freely attack the Magma Hound, as she is immune to fire.
- The fiery area can be used to kill other regular Hounds.
- The main danger of the fight is the Summer's Smog, which will drain the max health of players within.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Magma Hounds were added in the Stalking Stuffers update.
