The Plague Mask is a craftable Hat Item. It requires a Goose Mask, 2 Red Caps and 4 Rat Tails to craft, and an Alchemy Engine to prototype.
When a Plague Mask is worn, it prevents the player from taking poison damage in Toadstool's poison clouds and receiving maximum health penalty from being inside smog or physical sources like Rat and Spore Hound bites.
Unlike the Goose Mask, the Plague Mask doesn't drain sanity, but instead gives a hefty sanity bonus of 6.67 per minute while being worn.
The Sewing Kit will repair 42% durability of this item.

- The Plague Mask was added in the Goodies Galore update.
- Its crafting recipe used to require a Malbatross Bill.
- Its original purpose was offering protection from Hay Fever, but this mechanic got removed at a later update.
- It's inspired by the masks used by Plague Doctors around the 17th century.
- The crafting recipe's description is a reference to SCP-049, a character from the SCP Franchise.
- Canis' SCP-049 character mod was a base for the item's appearance.
