Pyrite is a resource that can be found in the Magma Caves. It can both drop from mining Pyrite Outcroppings and dislodge itself from formations in the cave ceiling during earthquakes. It can be used to craft Pyre Bombs, the Capsi Cap and the Flame Burster.
Pyrite is highly volatile, and may detonate if hit by another explosion or if debri from Earthquakes falls on it.

Tips[edit | edit source]
- Due to the many hazards associated with it, collecting Pyrite can be a dangerous endeavour if attempted without the right gear. With addecuate precuations, however, it is possible to get many pieces of Pyrite per visit to the Magma Caves, solely by visiting the ceiling formations after earthquakes.
- When it comes to mining the Pyrite Outcroppings, a cheap way of doing so safely would be lighting a cheap explosive right next to the rocks, such as Slurtle Slime or Snapalm.
- Earthquakes can be intentionally provoked by the player by using explosives in the caves, which could be used to harvest fully grown ceiling formations without waiting for a natural earthquake.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Pyrite's name derives from the word "Pyre", in reference to its fiery nature. However, since "Pyrite" is also the name of a real life mineral, there was a lot of discussion regarding its name, with multiple alterantives such as "Pyrerite" being considered to make the pun more obvious.
- One of these earlier names, "Fyrite", is still used internally.
