Character Rebalances
–Someone, maybe.
The Uncompromising Mode mod makes some adjustments to the Don't Starve Together characters cast with the intention of leveling their power levels into a similar range.
Main changes are the changes directly made to the characters, while
Indirect changes don't come from the character itself, but rather come from other features affecting their gameplay.
Optional changes are toggled off by default and need to be enabled in the mod configuration screen before launching a server.
A lot of the changes are configurable in the mod's settings.
Overall Changes[edit | edit source]
These apply to all characters:
Favorite Foods no longer give extra hunger, they instead provide a varying amount of sanity between 5-15 based on their stat total.

- Removed 15-day spoil time.
- Added 8-day durability.
Merm
- Can leave their house during Winter.
- Increased respawn interval during Winter to 4 days; originally 2 days.
Loyal Merm Guard
- Can leave their house during Winter.
- Increased respawn interval to 4 days; originally 0.5 days.
Indirect changes:[edit | edit source]
- Winter stops the growth of almost all plants, including Farm Plants and other vegetarian food sources, making it harder to survive.
Tips[edit | edit source]
- Trade Fish (obtainable in Winter through the Ocean or by killing Merms) with the Merm King to obtain Kelp Fronds, which can also be dried for a good Sanity source food.
- Since Winter stops the growth timer of Farm Plants, that means crops that fully grew in Autumn will never spoil as long as they're not picked up. This can be used as a way to store them fresh throughout the whole season.
- Killing Bunnymen and Splumonkeys for Carrots and Bananas respectively is another way to obtain food during Winter.
- Exploring new areas with unpicked food sources, such as the Lunar Island and Moon Quay on the ocean, and the Ruins and Lunar Grotto in the caves, helps in staying alive as well.
Walter[edit | edit source]
Main changes:[edit | edit source]
With the introduction of Wixie, the delinquent, Walter has received a complete rework to his gameplay. He has given up his trusty slingshot in exchange for a command whistle that can be used while right clicking (the whistle does not take up any inventory slots).
- By using the whistle, Walter can command Woby and allied creatures to:
- Sit/Stay
- Pick/Gather items
- Distract/Kite enemies (Woby will not give out any damage while doing so)
- Dig up objects (Big Woby only)
- Chop down trees (Pigmen only)
- As a nature lover, Walter hates to see innocent animals suffer.
- Walter will lose 6 sanity per minute while Woby is starving.
- Walter's sanity will decrease by 1/20 of the damage Woby takes (Woby cannot be killed).
- Walter and Woby have received many changes when it comes to food.
- Walter starts with and is able to craft the Jerky Hat that lets him and other players dry foods on the go, with foods drying faster the quicker the player is moving.
- Walter's favorite foods have been expanded to all dried foods, excluding both forms of monster jerky.
- Woby's hunger is increased to a maximum of 110 and can now be seen as a meter to Walter.
- Woby will revert to her small state when her hunger reaches 30% (33); formerly 0%.
- Woby will gain extra hunger points when fed monster jerky and small monster jerky.
- During his time in the constant, Walter has earned his first-aid badge.
- When using healing items, such as the Healing Poultice or Sweetflower Wrap, Walter will receive a 50% healing bonus. This also applies when Walter heals Mobs or other players.
Tent Roll now restores Max HP if below 25% penalty.
- Being a master survivalist, Walter spawns with several items prototyped by default, without needing science to craft. These items are:
- Trap
- Bird Trap
- Fishing Rod
- Healing Salve
- Honey Poultice
- Sweetflower Wrap
- Tillweed Salve
- Rope
- Papyrus
- Walter now has the same follower loyalty bonus that Woodie has.
Wanda[edit | edit source]
Main changes:[edit | edit source]
Alarming Clock
- Reduced damage while Old to 102; originally 142.8.
- Reduced damage while Middle-Aged to 68; originally 97.92.
- Reduced damage while Young to 51; originally 81.6.
Second Chance Watch
- Now inflicts Maximum HP Loss.
- Increased cooldown interval to 16 minutes; originally 4 minutes.
- Increased to 3 Time Pieces; 1 Time Piece.
Added +25% damage vulnerability from Shadow Aligned Creatures.
Indirect changes:[edit | edit source]
- As the Creeping Fear has been added, spawning at 0 Sanity, and with drops not worth killing it for, it is recommended to be more careful about going insane in the early game Wanda, as you'd want to avoid the fight at all costs. After your Alarming Clock is made, however, the fight will not be as challenging, but still preferably avoided.
Tips[edit | edit source]
- If possible, animation canceling can highly benefit Wanda specifically, as it more than nullifies her whips longer attack animation, bringing her effective DPS back to vanilla. This however, requires training, and your ping and FPS to be as low as possible.
