The Cursed Antler is a melee weapon, dropped by Deerclops. It has infinite uses and never breaks, but needs to be charged to deal full damage.
When fully charged, it deals 100 damage to the opponent attacked, while also dealing 34 AOE damage to any creatures close to the target, and applying a slight freeze effect similar to the Ice Staff, adding 1 Coldness to the target hit and 0.5 Coldness to all surronding mobs. After attacking with a fully charged Cursed Antler, it and every other copy of it in the player's inventory or dropped on the ground close to them will enter on a 5 seconds cooldown, similar to how Wanda's watches work. If the Cursed Antler is used on combat while it's still on cooldown, it will only deal 34 damage, with no AOE or freeze.
After 5 seconds, when the weapon is fully charged again, it will emit Deerclops' taunt noise, with a FX appearing on the top of the weapon, to warn the player that it's ready to be used again.
Damage multipliers work differently with the Cursed Antler, only affecting the 34 base damage, but not the 66 extra damage when charged. For example, Wolfgang will only deal 134 damage while mighty (34 x 2 + 66), instead of 256 (128 x 2).
This item can be deconstructed using a Deconstruction Staff for 8 Bone Shards, 2 Nightmare Fuel.
Veteran's Curse
This weapon can only be equipped if you have Veteran's Curse active, which can be activated by touching the Melancholic Skull.
Tips
- One player can't use two or more Cursed Antlers effectively, because of the fact that attacking with one Antler will put all the others on cooldown. That can be slightly circumvented however, by dropping the copies on the ground far away and picking them after attacking.
Trivia
- Cursed Antler was added in the Hooded Forest Update.
- Before the Squeaky Clean update, the cooldown was durability based.
- The new cooldown system was one of the first things Atoba Azul did as a Developer.
