Bug Zapper
–Wurt
The Bug Zapper is a melee electrical weapon. It requires 1 Spear, 2 Electrical Doodads, and 2 Saffron Feathers to craft and an Alchemy Engine to prototype.
Like the Morning Star, the Bug Zapper loses durability while held, and doesn't break when depleted 0%. It can be recharged with an Energy Cell, restoring 50% durability (3 minutes). Interacting the Bug Zapper on to a Charged Lightning Rod restores ~33.3% durability (2 minutes), removing the light and electricity. Interacting the Bug Zapper onto any of Winona's Generator restores ~33.3% (2 minutes), at the cost of 25% fuel from Winona's Generator or 5.5% Fuel from Winona's G.E.M.erator each use. Unlike the Morning Star, the Bug Zapper doesn't protect the player or recharges from lightning, nor does it attract lightning while on the ground.
The Bug Zapper's base damage is 25. The passive electric modifier boosts the damage to ×1.5, dealing 37.5 damage. Against wet mobs, the electric modifier becomes ×2.5, dealing 62.5 damage.
The Bug Zapper deals a flat +15 damage against Spiders, dealing 52.5 damage, or 77.5 damage if the mob is wet. Alternatively, the Bug Zapper deals a flat +30 damage against insects (Bees, Aphids, Scorpions, etc.) dealing 67.5 damage, or 92.5 damage if the mob is wet.
Additionally, attacking any of these creatures triggers an AoE attack, dealing 5 damage to all Insects or Spiders within a radius of ?. The extra damage and AoE damage to Insects and Spiders cannot be affected by any damage multipliers. No matter if the player is Wendy, Mighty Wolfgang, has the Chili Flakes status effect, etc. the +15 or +30 on attack and 5 AoE damage remains.

Tips[edit | edit source]
- The Bug Zapper is best used against insects, it's especially handy against large groups of mobs like Bees and Spiders, due to its AoE effect, and for boss fights like Bee Queen, Antlion and the Hooded Widow, thanks to its insane electrical damage when the mobs are wet.
- This item is harder to use against Raid Dragonfly if it's not raining while the fight occurs, because of her special wetness mechanic. But it does come with the advantage of being able to use Water Balloons to make her wet with no need for rain.
- Although the Bug Zapper deals a larger amount of damage to Insects/Spiders, the Morning Star is still more effective against mobs that don't fit in neither of those categories, including Beehives and Spider Dens.
- Once the Player obtains the Drowning Conch or Practical Rain Rituals as Wickerbottom, they can freely force rain to use the Bug Zapper with full effectiveness.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Bug Zapper's crafting recipe used to be 1 Torch, 2 Electric Doodads and 2 Crimson Feathers. This was done to make the craft more accessible, but was later changed in the Squeaky Clean update. Its appearance also got changed to reflect its new recipe, with the Red in the center of the Zapper being replaced with a Saffron Feather sprite.
- The Bug Zapper used to have durability instead it of fuel. It was limited to only 80 uses.
- According to the Developers, Moonmaw Dragonfly is noticeably absent from the Insect Mobs List due to the moon corruption taking over the body so much, to the point of it being more moon-material based than insectoid.
- Wixie had a different quote for this item. The quote was "You remind me of... me!"
