Scorpions are hostile mobs found in the Oasis Desert. They emerge from Scorpion Holes, except in winter, when they won't spawn.
Scorpions are very aggressive mobs that will attack nearly everything that crosses their path, with the ability to cause Grogginess when attacking with its sting. The sting has a 2 second cooldown every time it's used, if the player is hit again before the grogginess ends it will be put to sleep. When a scorpion is hit it will jump backwards and charge shortly after. The charge, however, doesn't inflict grogginess.
Fighting
After reeling back, the Scorpion will only charge the player if they are outside of its normal attack range. An effective tactic is to hit them and then chase them during their retreat. This will force them to perform a normal melee attack instead of a charge, which can be easily avoided with a back step and followed up with another strike on the Scorpion. Take care when using this method as their follow up attack may be a stinger attack, inflicting grogginess.
Scorpions can be caught in traps, killing them instantly and giving their drops as if they had died in combat.
Trivia
- Scorpions a mob ported over from Hamlet's Scorpions with some changes including: new sprites, new animations, different spawning method and swapping poison with grogginess.
- Even though scorpions are not insects in real life, the Scorpion is tagged as an "insect" in the game files (This affects the Bug Zapper's damage).
