The Mother Goose, is one of the four seasonal giants that spawn next to the player in Uncompromising Mode. She can appear 9.5 days into Spring. The giant is limited to spawning only once per Spring, and will not disappear when Summer arrives.
When killed, the Mother Goose will drop 6 Meat, 5 Down Feathers and her exclusive drop, the Feather Frock. She will additionally drop 2 feathers at 66% health, and 3 more feathers at 33% health.
The Mother Goose takes 4 blasts from the Ice Staff to be frozen and takes 1 Sleep Dart to be put to sleep.
Behavior
Mother Goose acts mostly similar to Moose Goose in Uncompromising Mode, inheriting the Jump Attack and Lightning Attack at low health.
Unlike Moose Goose, Mother Goose is able to summon tornadoes, which circle out of her and disappear based on how they are rotating.
If the tornadoes rotate clockwise, they retract back into Mother Goose. If they rotate counter-clockwise, they expand outwards and dissipate.
If left alone for roughly 1 day after she arrives, a Golden Egg will spawn, which can be hammered for Gold.
Strategy
It is advisable to have electric-proof clothing before fighting Mother Goose as to help combat her electric attacks later in the fight. Otherwise, bring normal weapons and armor such as a Dark Sword and Log Suit. You should also keep a Walking Cane handy.
Much like Moose Goose, Mother Goose's attack pattern is 3 headbutts and a honk to disarm the player. She will also occasionally jump on the player. Mother Goose also now has AoE on her attacks, removing using companions such as Pigs.
You can kite her much like Deerclops or Moose Goose, doing a 3-hit-kite method. If she jumps, you must react to her animation beforehand and dodge toward her, going under the jump. At lower health, she will summon tornadoes and call down lightning. When it comes to the lightning, you can react to where it will strike and run out of the area (signaled by the ground being shocked). If Mother Goose uses her tornadoes, wait for them to spread out first before attacking again and react accordingly to their rotation.
Alternatively, you can pre-emptively walk out of your base and have Mother Goose spawn on your current location, allowing you to ignore her for the entirety of Spring.
Tips
- The player can go underneath Mother Goose during her Jump, similar to Hooded Widow.
- The player can wear electric-proof wear such as the Eyebrella to counteract the Lightning attack.
Trivia
- Mother Goose uses the Moose/Goose reskin from Winter's Feast, but during the event, she will swap it for the default Moose/Goose appearance.
