Spore Hound
–Wurt
The Spore Hound is a hound type that can appear during hound waves in Autumn Year 2 onwards.
When chasing the player it will behave similarly a regular hound, but sometimes it will decide to hop in the direction of the player it's targeting, creating a Spore Cloud, which is functionally identical to Toadstool's, as well as creating one on death.
Its bite also deal 5% of a player's maximum health, with only WX-78 and players using a Plague Mask being immune to it.
Fighting Strategy[edit | edit source]
Recommended items[edit | edit source]
- Plague Mask to prevent damage from Spore Clouds and max health reduction from the bite. (Goose Mask can be used by WX-78 players, or if you have Booster Shots.)
- Non-food healing (Honey Poultice, Sweetflower Wrap, Brine Balm, or any other viable healing methods)
- Body armor to protect from other hounds
Fighting[edit | edit source]
If the Spore Hound doesn't hop, the kite pattern of a regular Hound applies, being 2 hits, then dodge, and repeat. If it proceeds to jump, then do as follows: bait the jump, bait the bite, land 2 hits, dodge, and repeat as you would with regular Hounds. Once the Spore Hound is killed, it spews out another spore cloud, which will quickly spoil the Monster Meat it drops.
Tips[edit | edit source]
- The main purpose of the spore hound is to disrupt the player's healing.
- Any weapon except a Ham Bat, as the Spore Clouds will spoil it quickly.
- It can be treated as an almost regular hound by WX-78 players.
- The danger of the bite scales with the max health of the survivor. For example, Wathom will take 11,25 hp, and Wes will take 3,75 hp.
- It can be a slow, but viable source of Shroom Skin Scraps, if the player doesn't want to kill Toadstool.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Spore Hounds were added in the Fight And Flight update.
