The Snapdragon is a neutral mob that can be found in a small group in the Hooded Forest. When killed they drop one leafy meat, one petal, and one Pale Vomit.

Snapdragons drops a Pale Vomit if a player gets close to them, this event happens once a day. Snapdragons can also be fed with vegetables or fruits. When a Snapdragon is fed for the first time, it will drop a Whisper Pod, that can be used to grow Snap Buddies. After that, feeding them will always result in vomit from that point onward.

They have a herd mentality, when one is attacked nearby Snapdragons will attack you as well, but they are less threatening than a herd of Beefalo, lacking their running speed, and for that reason being easily outran and loosing aggro quickly.

During Summer, they will become hostile towards any player that isn't Wormwood, this can be identified by spikes on their neck. They will also accept meat for trades during that time, but the player needs to be Wormwood to successfully perform the trade.

They will eat any small insects they come across, healing 10 Health afterwards, but with the ability to eat aggressive insects like Aphids, Bees and Mosquitoes.

They take 3 hits with the sleep darts to be put to sleep, and 3 hits with the ice staff to be frozen.

Tips

• Snapdragon Herds can be used to easily clear a Infested Giant Redwood from Aphids.
• A single Snapdragon can be safely killed using 50 Monster Meat, with a stack of 20 of them dealing 400 worth of damage. This, however, can only be done effectively during Summer as Wormwood.
• Two Snapdragons can be killed for early access to Jelly Salad, which is one of the best sanity foods in the game, this is specially helpful to Wigfrid. It is recommended you feed them to get a Whisper Pod first, so you can renew them before killing.

Trivia

• The Snapdragon was added in the Hooded Forest update.
• They are originally a unimplemented mob found within the Hamlet DLC for Don't Starve, that can be found here.
• Snapdragons will reject Butterfly Wings given to them, but will accept Moon Moth Wings instead.
